About museum

Lithuania’s theatre, music and cinema museum was officially legitimated just in 1992, however before that it was working as a theatre’s –later as a theatre’s and music’s museum, often changing not only it’s name but it’s subordination also. Theatre museum exists from 1926 when the writers Vincas Kreve –Mickevicius and Balys Sruoga spread about it’s establishment in the media. Till 1936 it was working as Vytautas the greatest university’s and theatre museum. In 1936 it was moved to the State’s theatre. In 1957 become the department of the Lithuania’s theatre group (Aktoriu namai-Actors House) museum, in 1964 it was given to Lithuania’s art museum. From 1964 till 1992 the workers of the Theatre and Music department were collecting museum values about quarter a year in the premises of Umiatovskiai palace. In this Trakai street’s house number second Liudas Truikys was an often guest who personally took care that his works of art would go to this particular museum.

The exhibits saved in the department of the Art museum- L. Truikys theatres works group it is scene views and the set of costumes exhibits which chronological limits clasps round 1932-1984 years. Among them- the first exhibits of scene views and costumes created by Liudas Truikys by State’s drama, P.Vaiciunas plays “Aukso zaismas” (1932) and “Tikruoju Keliu” (1933).
In the funds of museum and later in the State’s theatre came scene views and costumes exhibits constructed in the State’s exhibits opera’s and ballet’s theatre’s scene and Kaunas musical theatre done by Liudas Truikys which illustrate not only music’s and figurative art’s synthesis way to Lithuania’s theatre scene but also testify about distinctive original development of creative way , shows by what means the author tried to find individual artistic ways of expression, it lets us to see how the distinct conception of stage design changed constructive principles and Art Deco close features in the artist’s early years of creation.

Separate part of Liudas Truikys legacy forms the set of the costumes created by the artist- it is in 1975 in State’s opera’s and ballet’s theatre shown G. Verdi opera’s “Aida” costumes also in the State’s theatre’s scene constructed L. Minkus ballet’s “Don Quijote” and in the same place in 1938 shown G. Verdi opera’s “Otello” separate costume’s parts.

However L. Truikys- the creator of scene views often choked himself as a costume designer , costumes saved in the museum testify that they were not thought of as a second-row element of the visual part of a play.

Also there are photos, personal one’s and manuscripts, letters in the museum. In Liudas Truikys and Marijona Rakauskaite home National Mykalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis art and Lithuanian theatre music and cinema museums the inheritance of Liudas Truikys is being saved , it is uncial not only Lithuanians but also all worlds art value. 2004 year it is mentioned Liudas Truikys 100 year anniversary.
